The Philadelphia Eagles are preparing to open their preseason schedule this week against the Baltimore Ravens. The backup quarterback battle has heated up the last few days with rumors and reports that former first-rounder Kenny Pickett may have fallen down the depth chart.

Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore was asked about the battle between Pickett and Tanner McKee.

“Tanner is doing an awesome job. Kenny is doing an awesome job,” Moore said. “Really two independent things. It’s not necessarily that they’re associated with each other. I think both of those guys are having really good camps.

“We try and mix and match these things to give yourself a different perspective for these guys. Kenny has handled it awesome. Tanner has handled it awesome. It’s been really good for these guys.”

Pickett, the former No. 20 overall pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers back in 2022, quickly fell out of favor and was traded to Philly in the offseason. McKee was a sixth-round pick of the Eagles in last year’s draft.

Both quarterbacks are learning a brand-new offense under Moore and will get considerable playing time in the preseason to help determined the depth chart.

When asked what he would be looking for during the preseason, Moore noted he wanted to see “a clean operation to make great decisions” from both quarterbacks.
