Team USA gymnastics coach Cecile Landi has no regrets about her challenge that led to a controversial bronze medal for Jordan Chiles.

The floor exercise final on Monday ended with the American Chiles just behind Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu for the bronze medal, but Landi asked judges to review the difficulty component of Chiles' score.

Judges ultimately gave Chiles a 0.1 increase in her score, moving to 13.766 points and just ahead of Barbosu's 13.700 for the final medal. The change led to controversy and a protest from the Romanian delegation, but Landi stood by her decision.

In an Instagram comment on August 6, Landi stressed that the point change was warranted and that Chiles earned her medal.

"Jordan won this bronze medal and didn’t steal anything from anyone. I simply did my job and fought for my athlete," Landi wrote in a response to a comment on her Instagram post .

The Romanian team has spoken out against the decision, with Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu writing in a wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday that he will not attend the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics in protest.

Landi admitted it was "heartbreaking" to see Barbosu lose her chance at a medal but called on people to stop criticizing Chiles.

"Do I feel bad for the Romanian athlete? Of course I do!" Landi wrote. "It was so sad and heartbreaking to see but it is the sport! You don’t have to like it but you do have to respect the outcome and more importantly respect Jordan and not drag her down because you disagree. She EARNED that bronze medal, her 1st individual Olympic medal and I couldn’t be more proud and excited!"

Jordan’s inquiry was valid. BUT Jordan was OVER-SCORED. That inquiry should’ve also deducted her on her landings at the very least. And even though her inquiry was valid, It was over a leap split turn. Do you think that leap split turn should earn her the bronze? NO. Both of the Romans routines were better in every aspect. Sabrina and Ana were UNDERSCORED and Sabrina was wrongly DEDUCTED. The bronze belongs to Sabrina.

So embarrassing that she had to steal this medal. Definitely nothing to be proud of.
