On Tuesday night, the Miami Marlins and Cincinnati Reds continued their four-game series at loanDepot Park, and Miami lost 8-2. Miami is now on a two-game losing streak as they lost the first two games of the series and the homestand.

The Reds jumped out to a 6-0 lead early in the game. Tyler Stephenson played a big role in that with a solo home run in the second inning. He also had an RBI single in the fourth inning to give Cincinnati their sixth run. Overall, the Reds offense came out big o Tuesday night with 13 hits, and eight of them were off Marlins starting pitcher Max Meyer.

It was not the start Meyer was hoping for on Tuesday. He only went four innings striking out two batters, and his ERA rose to 5.10. The Marlins bullpen did an okay job other than Yosver Zulueta who gave up two runs and increased the Reds lead to 8-2.

Reds starting pitcher Nick Lodolo was excellent against the Marlins. He earned his ninth win of the season, going six innings allowing two runs on two hits with seven strikeouts. His ERA dropped to 3.93.

The Marlins had another game in which the offense didn't show much consistency at the plate. They struck out 12 times on Tuesday night and managed just four hits. They are now 42-72 and still in last place in the National League East.

The Reds, meanwhile, have won back-to-back games in which the offense has scored more than five runs and got a double-digit amount of hits. They are now 55-58 and still have lots of catching up to do in the N.L. wild-card race.

The Marlins will continue their series with the Reds on Wednesday night. It will be Andrew Abbot taking the mound for the Reds against Valente Bellozo for the Marlins.
