Among the notable events, the release of tight end Armani Rogers stood out. Despite a promising start and the potential for a breakout campaign in 2023, Rogers' injury setbacks and the arrival of new talents such as Zach Ertz, Ben Sinnott, and Colson Yankoff left him surplus to requirements. General manager Adam Peters made the tough decision to cut Rogers, emphasizing the ruthless nature of NFL roster building.

Jayden Daniels, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, continued to earn his stripes during training camp. The rookie quarterback has impressed everyone with his on-field performances, work ethic, and leadership qualities.

His efforts have not gone unnoticed by head coach Dan Quinn, “I had high expectations for him coming in, but I would say he's definitely surpassed even my expectations of the readiness, the command. I knew he was going to be cool, knowing the system, he's just got that way about him. But yet, you do see the other players gravitate toward [him]. They recognize how hard he's worked at it. And I'd also be mistaken [not] to say, [QB] Marcus [Mariota] has had a really good camp too, and so this was not something that's easy to do. That's what real competition is about. And I couldn't think of a better teammate than Marcus or Jayden. The quarterback room, like I said, has just been remarkable.” said Dan Quinn.

Daniels' exceptional play during training camp has earned him the starting role for the preseason opener against the New York Jets. This competition was intended to test Daniels' readiness under pressure, and he has surpassed expectations, increasing optimism about his potential impact in the upcoming season.

As the Commanders prepare for the 2024 season, the focus remains on refining the offense and ensuring key players are ready for Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . The camp's positive atmosphere and the emergence of promising talents like Daniels signal a bright future for the Commanders.
