Former University of Minnesota women's diver Sarah Bacon saw her Paris Olympics run come to an end on Wednesday.

Bacon competed in the 3-meter individual dive preliminary round and recorded a score of 264.40 — one spot shy of qualifying and moving on to the next stage.

Although Bacon's run has concluded, she's coming back to the United States with a silver medal as she and partner Kassidy Cook had a score of 314.64 in the 3-meter synchronized springboard final.

The pair became the first from Team USA to medal in Paris.

The medal marked the fourth consecutive Olympic games in which a current or former Gophers swimming and diving member earned a medal for Team USA, according to the university.

During her time at Minnesota, Bacon was a 5x NCAA and a 4x Big Ten Champion. Bacon is known as the only woman in University of Minnesota history to have won three or more NCAA titles in any sport, making her the most decorated female athlete in school history.

In addition to Bacon, the Gopher swimming and diving program sent two more athletes to this year's games. Last week, Minnesota rising senior Bar Soloveychik helped Israel reach the final of the 4x200 freestyle relay for the first time in team history.

Later this month, Gopher alum Summer Schmit will swim for Team USA for the second time in her career. Fans can catch her in the Paralympic games that run from Aug. 28 to Sept. 8.
