    10-Year NBA Veteran Says Goodbye

LeBron James is the ultimate exception regarding how long players stay in the NBA. Not everyone can produce as an All-Star at 39. Jeremy Lamb, although not a star player, achieved a respectable career. Before playing 10 years in the NBA, the Virginia native won an NCAA championship with UConn in 2011. Following a two-year absence from the NBA, Lamb announced his retirement via Instagram.

"Basketball has been good to me throughout my entire life, so this decision didn't come easy, but l have decided to retire from the game that has given me everything. I know I wouldn't be where I'm at without the love and support from my family and friends, so l want to take a moment to express my appreciation," Lamb began his retirement announcement.

Lamb naturally thanked his family for their support in his 10-year career. During his tenure with the Charlotte Hornets, Lamb discussed his mother's influence on him to learn more about his heritage and black history in general.

"Growing up, I was always the type saying “I hate school, I hate reading”, different variations like that and my mom would get so made at us especially when we didn’t even want to learn our own personal history. So she sat us down and made us watch “Roots.” Seeing everything that transpired in Roots really affected me. What people went through, I can’t even imagine," Lamb revealed in 2016.

Lamb averaged a career 10 points in 573 games. The former Indiana Pacers guard appeared in 14 NBA playoff games. The 10-year veteran played 121 games for the Pacers.

Lamb's attitude and professionalism kept the UConn alum in the league for a decade. Before signing off on Instagram, Lamb acknowledged his former teammates and coaches.

"I also want to acknowledge my teammates, who have made this experience unforgettable. To my coaches, thank you for your guidance and belief in me. Your impact on my life goes beyond the court. Now, it's time to catch another dream!"

Lamb's next plan post-playing career hasn't surfaced, but if the UConn alum puts forth the same effort as he did in the NBA, his subsequent venture should also end successfully.
