Simone Biles Inspires Kevin Durant on Multiple Levels

Kevin Durant isn't afraid to say what he feels on social media. The Phoenix Suns superstar recently acknowledged Simone Biles as a mesmerizing figure athletically and physically. Although Durant made history by passing Lisa Leslie in all-time Team USA scoring, Biles' representation in and out of the gymnastic arena caught the former Golden State Warriors star's eye.

“I’d never been to a gymnastic event up close like that,” Durant told The Athletic . “Obviously I’d watched [gymnastics] on TV, but it’s different when you’re there. And just to see her greatness, along with the other girls who put so much time into their craft, it’s just amazing to see how great they’ve become.”

Biles added three gold medals to her all-time collection following her legendary performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Although talented, Team USA's gymnastics wouldn't soar to the same golden heights without the Columbus, Ohio, native.

Durant admires Biles because of her apparent greatness in gymnastics. However, the always-tweeting Suns star also appreciated Biles for handling the media as well as she could with her noted anxiety obstacles. Durant recently nicknamed Biles following her gold medal finish against Brazi's Rebeca Andrade.

As Biles is arguably the best gymnastic competitor of all time, Durant titled her "Goat Biles," showcasing his utmost respect for the gold-medal machine.

However, where Durant truly appreciates Biles is her public relations decorum.

“When people see so much potential in you at an early age, you’re gonna get nitpicked like that, and she’s been through it at the highest of highest levels. For her to continue to come out and showcase the brilliance every day, and also let people know that they sound crazy talking against her? To be able to do both is inspiring. So yeah, she’s inspired me to keep tweeting and keep doing what I do on the court too," Durant said.

Durant is not one to shy away from sharing his opinion, especially on X (formerly known as Twitter), but Biles's idea that the polarizing star should share more opinions on social media makes for an interesting 2024-2025 NBA season.
