Caitlin Clark Receives Support from Michael Rapaport

Despite Team USA's on-court success, its early attendance record hinted at the world's interest in watching the Women's team perform. However, recent numbers refute such a theory, as FIBA relays Team USA's quarterfinal game attendance was 12,437. Michael Rapaport, actor and podcaster, recently shared an opinion that suggested a roster switch to aid Team USA's seemingly shot attendance issue.

"Caitlin Clark would be a lot more effective than the great Diana Taurasi at this point for the Women's Olympic team, and more people would be watching," Rapaport stated on X (formerly known as Twitter). Although seemingly a low number, Team USA attracted more fans than France vs. Germany's 12,399 attendance mark.

Both games were played in the same stadium, allowing the same attendance potential.

However, Rapaport's suggestion of swapping Clark and Taurasi isn't an off-base opinion. The Phoenix Suns' legendary career salvages Taurasi's current Olympic position, as the WNBA star is averaging a mere 1.3 points per game in addition to the lackluster 1.5 assists.

Conversely, Clark's youthful step and her eye-popping passes lead many to believe the Indiana Fever All-Star would fare better for Team USA. Furthermore, Clark recently set the record for assists converted (19) in a WNBA game.

It's understandable for fans to want Clark on Team USA as the WNBA attendance and revenue point at the rookie's significant impact on a league entering unseen metrics.

Nonetheless, Taurasi's struggles don't hinder Team USA's missing for gold.

Team USA won its 59th consecutive Olympic game against Nigeria. One day, Clark will become an Olympic athlete, but for now, Team USA is handling business regardless of who's on the roster.
