USWNT Trio Proposes Fitting Nickname Ahead of Gold Medal Game

The USWNT is on its way to the gold medal match against Brazil on Saturday, in large part due to the goal scoring ability of attacking trio Sophia Smith, Trinity Rodman and Mallory Swanson.

On Thursday morning, this talented position group joined the TODAY Show to discuss their upcoming bid for an Olympic title.

During the interview, they decided to unveil a new nickname for their trio.

"Triple Espresso."

"We also have a name for ourselves. We have an announcement," Smith said. "Trinity, take it away."

"We have a proposal for our trio name to be Triple Espresso," Rodman continued. "We're just going to put that out in the air and let people have fun with that."

This trio has certainly provided their team with a triple shot of energy.

Smith, Rodman and Swanson have combined for nine of the USWNT's 10 goals in this year's Olympic campaign. Swanson assisted Smith on a go-ahead goal in the 95th minute of extra time in the United States' 1-0 victory over Germany on Wednesday.

"Triple Espresso" and the USWNT will face off against Brazil in the gold medal match at 11 a.m. ET on Saturday.
