Paul Finebaum Reveals Top College Football Coach's Time Is Running Out

This season is crucial for the Clemson Tigers and head coach Dabo Swinney to prove the doubters wrong. The Tigers are coming off a 9-4 season, breaking a 12-year streak of winning 10 or more games.

The Tigers have not made it to the College Football Playoff since 2020. Additionally, Swinney has made headlines this offseason due to his use, or lack thereof, of the transfer portal. ESPN's Paul Finebaum has been critical of Swinney. While Finebaum acknowledges Swinney's success, he understands upper management's patience can run thin.

"His record is spectacular, but you and I both know patience runs very thin," Finebaum said.

Finebaum mentioned it would be a big deal if Clemson could make it into the College Football Playoff this season. According to ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI), the Tigers have a 26.9% chance of achieving this, ranking them at No. 2 in the conference.

The Tigers also have the second-highest chance of winning the conference, making the national championship game and winning the national championship in the ACC, only trailing the Florida State Seminoles.

There's a possibility that we might see Clemson back in the College Football Playoff in 2024.
