On Thursday afternoon, USA sprinter Noah Lyles finished with a bronze medal in the men's 200m at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Lyles finished with a final time of 19.70 seconds, just 0.24 seconds behind the gold medal winner Letsile Tebogo (19.46) out of Botswana. The silver medal went to fellow USA sprinter Kenny Bednarek, who finished with a final time of 19.62 seconds.

After the race ended, Lyles can be seen falling to the floor with exhaustion. It appeared he was struggling to breathe and had to be helped off the track with a wheelchair.

According to NBC , Lyles' mother confirmed that he was diagnosed with COVID-19 two days ago and decided to race anyway. It's important to note that Lyles also deals with asthma.

Before the event started, Lyles came onto the track with a facemask on, but nobody really blinked at the sight of this.

Fans really loved the fact that Lyles fought through his illness and still won a medal in the 200m race and shared their thoughts online.

"Noah Lyles spent countless nights in the hospital as a child, dealing with severe asthma attacks. Today, Lyles competed in the 200m final just two days after being diagnosed with COVID-19. He STILL medaled. Nothing but respect"

"Noah Lyles getting Bronze with Covid is one of the most impressive sports stories I’ve seen in a very long time. Put some respect on his name."

"ngl i kinda like noah lyles respect for winning with covid"

"So Noah Lyles apparently tested positive for COVID a couple of days ago and decided to run. Anyone who has actually had COVID for any period of time knows it is amazing he even finished the race if he had symptoms. Lyles also has ashtma as well."

"Noah Lyles, baby you DIFFERENT for still competing in the 200m and finding a way to get on the podium while dealing with COVID. You strong kid, cause whew."

"I'm sorry but Noah Lyles winning a bronze medal after coming down with COVID-19 makes him my World Champion even if he isn't yours."

Lyles was diagnosed with COVID-19 after he won gold in the men's 100m race on Sunday, August 4. He is still expected to compete in the men's 4x100m relay race on Friday, August 9, but that could change given the circumstances.

When he was in the back pacing from side to side, I can look at his eyes and tell something was wrong, but I couldn’t pinpoint it until during the race when he wasn’t running right, his arms was all over the place. After the race he was laying down breathing hard and then he was nailing down catching his breath. First thing I said was he was having an asthma attack, not thinking of Covid.
