It was a historic opportunity for Team USA sprinter Noah Lyles on Thursday afternoon, but he couldn't quite get it done.

Lyles had a chance to be the first American to win gold in the 100m and 200m at the Olympics for the first time since Carl Lewis in 1984. Instead, he finished in a relatively disappointing third place, winning the bronze medal.

Lyles was considered the favorite coming into the race, but some concerns about his health arose ahead of the race when he was seen wearing a mask. After the race, the commentators on NBC were questioning whether or not Lyles was 100% healthy or not.

Botswana's Letsile Tebogo won the gold medal with a finish of 19.46. USA's Kenny Bednarek finished in second at 19.62, and Lyles came in third at 19.70.
