Another Nebraska Cornhusker has reached the medal round at the Paris Olympics.

Axelina Johansson advanced through the qualification for the women’s shot put on Thursday and will now compete for a medal in the final on Friday.

Johansson, a native of Sweden, has had a distinguished career at Nebraska with numerous awards. She was the NCAA shot put champion in 2023, has won two NCAA bronzes, three Big Ten shot put titles, two silvers and is a two-time All-American.

She’s ranked 18th in the world and will be an underdog in Friday’s event but has a chance to get on the podium.

Friday’s final is scheduled to start at 12:40 p.m.
