LeBron James Makes Olympic History Against Serbia

On Thursday afternoon, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and the USA men's national basketball team defeated Nikola Jokic and Serbia 95-91 and will move on to the gold medal game in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Team USA will face France in the final in front of what will surely be a loud crowd.

LeBron had one of his best games in the Olympics, recording a triple-double with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. This marked James' second career triple-double at the Olympics, marking the most by any player ever at the worldwide event.

His first Olympic triple-double came in the 2012 London Olympics quarterfinal game against Australia.

The only other two Olympic triple-doubles to ever be recorded came from the Soviet Union's Alexander Belov in the 1976 Montreal Olympics and Slovenia's Luka Doncic in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Not only did LeBron break the Olympic triple-double record, but he also became the first player in Olympic history to record 300 or more points, 125 or more rebounds, and 125 or more assists.

With his new record, LeBron added to his already stellar resume, which includes two Olympic gold medals, four NBA championships, and the record for most career points ever in the NBA.

His USA teammate, Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant, made history in the 2024 quarterfinals against Brazil, passing WNBA legend Lisa Leslie for the most Olympic points scored by a USA player.
