Zeke's Zip: Cowboys at Camp VIDEO Vs. Rams

    By Mike Fisher,

    2024-08-08

AUG 8 ZEKE'S ZIP The Dallas Cowboys dropped their first unofficial depth chart this week, and Ezekiel Elliott is back in that first slot for running back. ... and showing off his stuff in Oxnard in Thursday's workout with the visiting Rams/

Elliott signed a one-year, $2 million contract this spring after spending 2023 with the New England Patriots. ... all of which is shocking to some when compared to his previous deal in Dallas, which had been a six-year deal worth $90 million.

He got released here a year ago, but now?

Rico Dowdle is second in line at running back on the Cowboys’ current depth chart behind Elliott, followed by others. And maybe Dowdle ends up being "RB1B.''

But for the moment? Zeke is showing some zip in trying to keep his top spot, as you can see here in his work against the Rams.

“The shelf life of an NFL player is three years,'' Elliott said recently. "Every snap, every year, one more year I get is a blessing. I think it was important for me to come back because I have unfinished business. I felt like I wanted to come back and be with my guys and take another spin at it.''

AUG 6 CONNOR SIGNS Former Cowboys offensive lineman Connor Williams - who has been dealing with a devastating knee injury during his time in Miami - is signing on in Seattle.

The Seahawks are signing Williams to a one-year deal worth up to $6 million.

Williams, a Coppell native, was a second-round pick out of Texas who began his NFL career in 2018 and became an almost-immediate starter.

In 2022, Williams agreed to a two-year, $14 million contract with the Dolphins, where he moved from guard to center ... but then, after starting in nine games last season, Williams suffered an ACL tear in Week 14.

There was some thought he might give up a comeback. This deal tells another story.

MAY 19 CTE "I can virtually guarantee that I have CTE,'' Jason Kelce wrote on social media recently, the retired Philadelphia Eagles standout like always telling it like it is. "All the research would suggest I have some degree of it. I think it is entirely reasonable to assume I have some degree of that pathology.''

Kelce waged "football war'' against the Dallas Cowboys for a football lifetime, and he may be right; he may pay a price. Read more on the story here ... with the hope that his openness might be of benefit to the generation of players coming up behind him,

MAY 12 ERIN'S PHOTO We wish a Happy Mother's Day to Erin Andrews and moms everywhere. But we are a bit taken by the FOX reporter's choice of Mom's Day cards, in a sense, that she sent out this weekend.

The veteran NFL sideline reporter recently welcomed her first child as Erin and her husband, former NHL player Jarret Stoll, are proud parents of a baby boy.

And to celebrate? Andrews - to promote her clothing line, of course - posed for a notable pic with the New York Post, wearing a sweater and a smile ...

And little else. Happy Mother's Day, Erin!

MAY 7 ABSOLUTELY! Stephen Jones just popped up on Mad Dog Radio to endorse the idea of Dak Prescott and whether he can lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl,

Stephen's full answer, in two big bites ...

“Absolutely. I totally think Dak can lead us to a championship. He does everything the right way. He’s certainly the leader of this football team. He keeps everybody motivated in the offseason. He’s got everybody working out and doing all the things that it takes to put in the work to give yourself every opportunity to win a championship. ...

"It just so happens that sometimes that old oblong football doesn’t bounce your way. And we’ve had some tough breaks and tough games there in the postseason. But we’ve won 12 games three years in a row. I think that’s right at the top in terms of what teams have done over a three-year period. And we’re hanging around the rim. We’ve just gotta go up there and grab it, to use a basketball term, and dunk it in. We’re hanging around the rim. We just got to get the job done.”

No Contract Talks for Dak & Lamb; When's 'Passive' Become 'Trouble'?

There's lots of truth in there. ... and one inconsistency: If a team believes its soon-to-be-free-agent QB is Super Bowl-caliber ... why wouldn't it find a way to pay him and to keep him?

MAY 1 NO SALE, BUT ... Are the Dallas Cowboys really worth $10 billion if they were ever to be sold?

A Miami Dolphins rumor seems to proves Jerry Jones right.

No, Jerry isn't selling the Cowboys. Ever. (Even though some in Cowboys Nation, frustrated by the lack of Super Bowls in the last 30 years, have other wishes.)

But if he did? Would they really be worth $10 billion?

An offer has been made to Stephen Ross for his Dolphins. He's turned it down. The magic number is ... $10 billion. And we explain here why, as with Jerry and his Cowboys ... we get it.

That’s pretty cool going up against your own team. Cowboy nation are really going to see how much of a useless RB he really is. And how much Jerry Jones screwed up by not selecting a RB in the draft. Hey Jerry, nice way to go all in 🤣😂🤣🤣😂
