Joel Embiid, Anthony Edwards Go Viral After Disrespectful Act vs. French Fans

Joel Embiid played a key role for Team USA on Thursday as they took down Serbia in the semifinal game of the Paris Olympics. It was Embiid who won the battle of the bigs as he helped lead the Americans to a pivotal victory against Nikola Jokic and Co.

Embiid had arguably his best game of the tournament thus far after finishing the 95-91 win with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting (including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc), four rebounds, two assists, and a block in 27 minutes of action.

Embiid, a Cameroonian-born player who also holds a French passport, has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism from the home fans in Paris throughout the Olympics. This stems from the Philadelphia 76ers superstar's decision to turn down the opportunity to represent France on the national stage in favor of suiting up for Team USA.

It was no different on Thursday as Embiid faced jeers from the home crowd at the Bercy Arena. After the win, the former NBA MVP decided to send a message to the fans as the Americans celebrated their semifinal victory.

Embiid got a little help from teammate Anthony Edwards too, as both players busted out the "suck it" crotch chop multiple times. Both Embiid and Edwards are fond of this disrespectful gesture, which was made popular by the iconic WWE group D-Generation X in the late 1990s to early 2000s.

The video has unsurprisingly blown up online, garnering close to 600,000 views in less than three hours (as of writing).

The best part of this all is that Team USA has now set up a date against France in the final on Saturday. Victor Wembanyama and Co. will still be the underdogs, but home-court advantage will be a key factor for them.

Knowing Embiid, however, the Sixers big man will be ready for that one and whatever the French fans may have in store for him.
