The Wisconsin Badgers basketball program bolstered their frontcourt with the signing of 6-foot-10, 250-pound center Riccardo Greppi, head coach Greg Gard announced on Friday.

Greppi, a promising talent from Italy, is set to join the Badgers for the 2024-25 season, in all likelihood, filling the void left by Andrija Vukovic , who has encountered some delays in getting to campus from overseas.

Greppi brings a wealth of experience from his time in the Italy-NextGen league, where he played for Verona. In eight appearances, Greppi averaged 9.1 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

His standout performances included a dominant 17-point, 12-rebound game in a victory over Brescia and a 17-rebound effort, along with eight points and two blocks, in a win against Virtus BO.

"We are excited to add Riccardo to our program," Gard said in a press release on August 9 . "With his size, strength, and skillset, he adds great depth to our frontcourt. As the landscape of college athletics continues to shift, we are in a strong position here at Wisconsin, both academically and athletically, to attract some of the best student-athletes in the world."

Greppi's international experience also includes playing for Italy's national team in the 2023 Under-18 European Championships, where he averaged 2.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks per game. In the 2023 U18 European Championships, he contributed 2.4 points and 4.2 rebounds.

"Riccardo will be a great fit with our program," Gard added. "We look forward to getting him here with us soon at Wisconsin and welcoming him to the Badger Family."

Greppi, alongside fellow newcomers Daniel Freitag from Bloomington, Minnesota, and Jack Robison from Lakeville, Minnesota, rounds out the Badgers 2024 recruiting class.
