Going into Friday's final in the men's 4x100 relay at the Paris Olympics, it had been 20 years since the United States had medalled in the event, and 24 years since they won gold.

It's going to be another four years before they can end that streak after Team USA was disqualified following an illegal baton exchange in the final.

During the first passing of the baton, Kenny Bednarek left a bit too early, leading to a clunky exchange between him and Christian Coleman who came outside of the designated zone. While Coleman, Kyree King, and Fred Kerley did well to try and get back into the competition after the slow start, it was all for not, with a DQ coming in the end.

After the race, American track and field legend Carl Lewis had some incredibly harsh words for the team, and the infrastructure put in place to help the athletes succeed.

Here is the video of the NBC report showing what Lewis said after the relay was over:

Lewis is among the most decorated track athletes in American history, with 9 Olympic gold medals, and 22 gold medals in all throughout his career, mostly coming in the 100m, 200m, 4x100 relay, and long jump.

Lewis has been a strong supporter of Team USA since his retirement, and he is not shy to let his feelings be known when he feels it's necessary. Obviously, Friday was one of those times. Now we will see if his comments can drive change going forward for Team USA.

In the grand scheme of things, this ranks somewhere near the bottom. This is way more important for African American, Hispanics, and Caribbean folks: Repenting and keeping the Lord's commandments.
