Breaking made its big debut as a sport at the Paris Olympics, but it was an odd performance from an Australian known as "Raygun" that captured the most attention.

The 36-year-old, whose real name is Rachel Gunn, went viral for her array of odd dance moves that led to some big reactions on social media. Gunn lost both of her matches in the round-robin competition, failing to register a point in either dance as her run at the Paris Olympics came to an early end.

But the reactions to Raygun's breakdancing at the Paris Olympics could live on. Many noted the apparent lack of technical skill in her moves as she rolled on the ground, sharing mortified reactions to her dances.

"There is no way I laugh harder for the rest of 2024 than after watching a 36 year old Australian college professor named Raygun 'breakdance' against teenagers," one person wrote on X .

"I'd like to personally thank Raygun for making millions of people worldwide think 'huh, maybe I can make the Olympics too,' " another added on X .

Others shared some colorful comparisons for Raygun's performance.

Gunn's entry into the breaking competition was not haphazard, however. CNBC noted that she has represented Australia three times at the World Breaking Championships and is seen as an expert in the history of breakdancing.

Gunn said she was planning on bringing a different element to the competition.

"The younger competitors are great in their strength, fitness, and explosiveness. But the older ones bring a different level of maturity to the dance," she told CNBC .
