The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are signing offensive lineman Ryan Johnson. The team also announced that offensive lineman Silas Dzansi has been moved to Injured Reserve due to a knee injury.

Johnson will likely fight for a backup spot, but the team has already lost guard Sua Opeta for the year, and lineman with size are always welcoming to a team.

The New England Patriots originally signed Johnson undrafted out of Youngstown State in May, but he was eventually released by the team in June.

The 6-2, 306 pound lineman finds himself on the second team of his young career after making 38 career starts at a combination of colleges. He spent six years in college, and started his career at Duquesne before transferring to Youngstown State in 2021.

Dzansi was an undrafted free agent out of Virginia Tech and signed to the Bucs before the 2023 season. He has had tough injury luck in both of his NFL seasons. Dzansi missed six weeks last year as well due to an undisclosed injury.

The roster move comes just a couple days before the Buccaneers first preseason game. Johnson may not even make the opening day roster, but could see some live snaps in one of the three preseason games the Bucs will play this August.
