Team USA Makes Major Kevin Durant Decision Ahead Of Olympic Final

NBA star Kevin Durant has been installed into the starting lineup of Team USA's Olympic final matchup against Victor Wembanyama and France, per Shams Charania.

Durant has spent most of the USA's Olympic run on the bench, with the starting lineup being LeBron James, Devin Booker, Jrue Holiday, Joel Embiid, and Stephen Curry for most of the international games.

The 35-year-old will now play alongside two other veterans in James and Curry. Durant finished the semifinal victory on the floor with most of the USA's starting core, replacing Holiday, who Charania reported is expected to come off the bench in the Olympic final.

He finished their 95-91 victory over Serbia with nine points and three rebounds, shooting 4-8 from the field.

With a gold medal, Durant would become the only player in Team USA men's basketball history to have four gold medals in their career.

He's currently tied with Carmelo Anthony, who has three gold medals. Durant previously played in the 2012 London, 2016 Rio De Janeiro, and 2020 Tokyo Games.

Kevin Durant is the all-time leading scorer for the men's and women's basketball Team USA grouping, having surpassed WNBA legend Lisa Leslie, who notched 488 points through four Olympic showings.

The two-time NBA champion will look to add to that record on Saturday when Team USA takes on France at 3:30 p.m. ET on their home court.
