Cousy Lets It Rip from Hip on Kerr

Bob Cousy is at the age where he says what's on his mind without a care. Moreover, if anyone says or does anything to intrude on the Boston Celtics' success, he'll exchange barbed words without hesitation.

Recently, Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving fell victim to Cousy's blunt criticism as Irving waned in the 2024 NBA Finals. However, Cousy saved his harshest critiques for Steve Kerr. Following Kerr's decision not to play Jayson Tatum in both Serbia's games, Cousy erupted.

"Tatum is on the cover of Sports Illustrated this month. Any experts that I've read lately have chosen him in the top five, and sometimes No. 1 in the [expletive] world. Now Kerr is telling the world that he doesn't agree. In a 40-minute game, if you can't find five minutes to play somebody on the team without hurting yourself..." Cousy said , as to allude to something damning if he finished the last sentence.

While Tatum won the NBA Finals, he failed to earn both NBA Finals and Eastern Conference Finals MVP. However, such misses on his resume don't exactly make him the worst player in the world. Still, Cousy isn't the only person who criticizes Kerr's rotations.

Cousy wasn't finished with Kerr. His following line of commentary flew a bit south of the belt.

"When Kerr did it last week, he was in no danger of losing the game, but in this case they got down by 17 points and he's got to worry about losing the game. And then to not let Tatum get off the bench - to me, there's got to be some kind of bias that he's got against the Celtics. He's not alone there," Cousy said.

While Kerr is not a perfect coach and has made questionable decisions in the Olympics, calling him biased isn't the worst to use. Derrick White wouldn't receive minutes if Kerr were biased toward the Celtics.

For all of Tatum's stardom, perhaps for now, he isn't fit for Olympic play.
