On Friday afternoon, tempers flared during the women's beach volleyball final at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where Brazil came out on top, winning two sets to one with scores of 26-24, 12-21 and 15-10.

The match featured Brazil’s duo, Ana Patricia Silva Ramos and Eduarda Santos Lisboa, going head-to-head against Canada’s pair, Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson.

In the third and final set, with the match tied at one set apiece, both teams started jawing at each other through the net, delaying the match for a couple of minutes.

The official attempted to break up the two teams, getting between them and blowing the whistle repeatedly as they kept jawing at each other, but the athletes ignored his efforts. Wilkerson was the only player to receive a penalty for the incident.

After the argument, once the athletes were separated, the DJ at Centre Court, located right in front of the Eiffel Tower, started playing John Lennon’s 1971 hit song "Imagine.”

In an iconic moment, the entire Olympic crowd started singing along, putting a smile on all four players' faces as the song's message of world peace and unity registered with the athletes, crowd and viewers at home.

Even the commentators were moved by the moment, appreciating how well the music fit the situation after the altercation between the two teams.

"Imagine all the people... living life in peace," the crowd sang.

"Imagine" peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 100 and remains one of the most respected songs to this day. It was also the best-selling single from Lennon's solo career, which came following his time with The Beatles.

"the way the tension immediately dissipated lmfaoo that dj deserves a raise," one fan said.

"this was everything… the way the song snapped them out of it had me dying and then they hugged at the end of the match and everyone lived happily ever after," another added.

"Another legendary fun Olympics moment. This Olympics has been an absolute banger for fun and silly things and great individual stories."

"Iconic moments like these are worth living to see."

    "Best Olympics ever"

    "Oh my goodness."
