In the third quarter of the preseason opener between the Buffalo Bills and the Chicago Bears , the game saw its first touchdown when Bears' running back Velus Jones Jr. broke through the Bills' defense.

However, the Bills didn’t let the momentum shift completely to Chicago. They quickly mounted a response, demonstrating the resilience of their offense, despite a few key players being sidelined.

With third-string quarterback Shane Buechele taking over for Mitchell Trubisky late in the third quarter, the Bills orchestrated an impressive drive deep into Bears' territory. Buechele, showing poise under pressure, connected with several targets, including rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman, as the Bills pushed towards the red zone.

However, just as the Bills seemed poised to tie the game, penalties derailed their progress. A costly infraction on the offensive line pushed the Bills back to a daunting 3rd and 15 from the Bears' 31-yard line. Unable to recover the lost yardage, Buechele was sacked, forcing Buffalo to bring out the field goal unit.

Kicker Tyler Bass , who had already nailed one earlier in the game, stepped up and delivered a 49-yard field goal, bringing the score to 13-6 in favor of the Bears. While the drive didn’t end in a touchdown, it showcased the Bills' ability to move the ball effectively, even under challenging circumstances.

As the Bills head into the final quarter, they will look to clean up the penalties and capitalize on their opportunities as they continue to prepare for the regular season.
