Former Stanford long-distance runner Grant Fisher has made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics. On Saturday, he won the bronze medal in the 5,000m race, becoming the first American man to medal in the 5,000m and 10,000m in an Olympic games.

Fisher competed for Stanford from 2015 to 2019 and was a 12-time All-American. As a sophomore in 2017, he won a national title in the 5,000m race, becoming the first American underclassman in 28 years to accomplish the feat.

Despite falling behind as far as 8th place on the final lap, Fisher made a late surge to secure the bronze in the event. His determined final 300 meters was inspirational as he made his remarkable comeback.

The Paris 2024 Games is his Fisher's Olympic tournament, and it won't be his last. He's put long-distance running on the map for the United States in a huge way and is making his alma mater proud.
