The Philadelphia Phillies (69-47) enter Saturday with the best record in MLB, even after a loss on Friday. Offensively, they have ranked among the best of the best this season, and they have Trea Turner to thank for a lot of their offensive success.

In a recent article from Bleacher Report , Joel Reuter ranked the top 10 players at each position right now. Even after an extended slump since the All-Star Break, Turner still finds himself ranked ninth.

The Phillies signed Trea Turner to an 11-year, $300 million contract after the 2022 season. Now in his second season with the Phillies, Turner has been on fire for the majority of 2024.

Turner enters Saturday batting .302/.349/.470 with 13 home runs, 39 RBI, 13 steals, and a 128 OPS+. After a rough start to his Phillies tenure in 2023, he has performed as advertised in 2024.

A recent slump has seen Turner's stock drop. Over 19 games in the second half, Turner has batted .169/.216/.253 with two home runs, seven RBI, one steal, and a 29 OPS+. He has shown signs of escaping the slump of late, with a three-game stretch from August 6th-August 8th where he went 4-for-15.

Turner has never been known for his defense, and that remains the case in 2024. Per Baseball Savant, Turner has -5 Outs Above Average this season, placing him in the bottom 10 percent of the league.

Trea Turner was named to his third career All-Star game this season. If he can return to the levels of production he was providing the Phillies in the first half of the season, he may be bringing home more hardware come the season's end.
