Bills Fall to Bears Following Brutal Second Half

    By Colin Miller,

It was a rough second half showing for the Buffalo Bills offense in a 33-6 loss to the Chicago Bears in their preseason opener.

Despite a strong start defensively, only allowing six points in the first half, the defense surrendered three touchdowns to the Bears in the second half.

The Bills were absolutely outplayed on the offensive side of the ball, producing only 201 yards compared to Chicago's 341. Chicago's Ian Wheeler ran for 43 yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

However, the play of the game came from Chicago's Micah Baskerville, who intercepted a Shane Buechele pass and returned it for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

The Bills offense, despite rolling with three different quarterbacks throughout the game, were unable to gain any momentum throughout the afternoon. Despite showing some flashes with his rushing ability, Buechele was still sacked six times and threw an interception in just over a quarter of play.

Fans looking to see rookie Keon Coleman get some action on the field were disappointed as the receiver finished the game with just one catch.

One bright spot for the Bills was linebacker Dorian Williams, who finished the game with six tackles, a sack, and a tackle-for-loss in the game.

The Bills will have to quickly forget this performance as they prepare for their next preseason matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fans will hope to see a very different offense when the team takes the field in a week.

The Bills face the Steelers in Pittsburgh on Saturday, Aug. 17.
