Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone's 2-Word Reaction To Team USA Women's 4x400 Relay Just Missing Out On World Record

Team USA's women's 4x400 relay team won gold in the event on Friday, and they were led by another impressive performance from Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone.

After she set a world record in the women's 400-meter hurdles earlier in the 2024 Summer Olympics, McLaughlin-Levrone very nearly found herself as part of another record setting performance in this event.

The Soviet Union set the women's 4x400 relay world record back in 1988 with a time of 3:15:17, with Team USA's women's time coming in just .1 second behind that record with a time of 3:15:27. After finding out she came up just short, McLaughlin-Levrone had a quick two-word reaction.

While they came up just short in their quest to set a world record, Team USA blew away the competition in this event, as they beat Netherlands, who won silver in this event, by over four seconds.

This is McLaughlin's second gold medal after she won gold in the aforementioned 400-meter hurdles race, where she set a world record with a time of 50:37.

While Team USA has had a handful of great performances throughout the 2024 Summer Olympics, it's safe to say that McLaughlin's pair of gold medal outings will put her towards the top of that list.
