In front of the home crowd at Accor Arena in Paris, France, it should be no surprise that the French Men's National Team--Les Bleus--were the fan favorites of the tournament. Despite falling short of gold to Team USA, their Olympic bid is considered a success after beating Canada and Germany on the way to a silver medal.

And of course, Victor Wembanyama was at the center of the celebration in Paris.

The 20-year-old phenom has taken the NBA by storm, running away with Rookie of the Year and establishing himself as one of the best defenders in the league all before he can buy a beer. While he was gunning for gold, a silver medal is not a bad consolation prize. As the silver medal was placed around his neck and his name announced while La Marseillaise was sung by the fans, he was given a standing ovation.

There is no doubt that he will be the face of French basketball for the next several years, but his teammate, Guerschon Yabusele, who was arguably France's best player, received MVP chants from the crowd. Certainly, they were well deserved.

As the Star Spangled Banner played and Team USA was given their medals, NBA icons like Stephen Curry and LeBron James were met with thunderous applause, rivaling Wembanyama, although it's safe to say the fan-favorite towered over everyone else, even on the lower stage of the Olympic podium.

As expected, Joel Embiid received boos from the French fans as Team USA egged him on, waving his medal over his head with a smile on his face.
