Steph Curry helped put Team USA on his back through the final two games at the Paris Olympics, scoring 60 total points to lead them back to gold.

But his first career Olympic run ended with a bit of controversy after he was passed up for Olympics MVP, with the rare honor instead going to teammate LeBron James. Shortly after the United States took down host country France 98-87 to win the gold medal, FIBA announced that James was named the MVP of the Paris Olympics basketball tournament.

After the announcement, many fans took to social media to share frustration that Curry was passed over. The Warriors star had 36 points in a comeback win over Serbia in the semifinal and another 24 points -- including four three-pointers in the final 2:48 -- to ice the gold medal game.

"Steph absolutely robbed They don’t win the last two games without him," one person shared on X .

"What a joke," another posted . "Curry was the MVP, without him USA would not even play in the Finals."

James had quite a run at the Paris Olympics himself. The Los Angeles Lakers star scored 14 points with 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 2 steals in the gold medal game. James averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 8.5 assists through six games, all wins for the United States.

The Olympics MVP honor is a rare one. Introduced in 2004, there was no tournament MVP awarded in 2008, 2012, or 2016. Kevin Durant took home MVP honors at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
