Gymnastics Legend Nadia Comaneci has Strong Opinion on How to Resolve Jordan Chiles Controversy

Nine-time Olympic medalist Nadia Comaneci wasn’t shy about how she felt in the moments after Jordan Chiles edged out fellow Romanian natives Ana Barbosu and Sabrina Maneca-Voinea for bronze in the women’s floor final last week.

Accusing the judges of “playing with athlete’s mental health and emotions,” Comaneci

Was seemingly sticking up for the two Romanian gymnasts who were slighted by poor judging.

But days later, Comaneci has made it known there’s a simple solution to the situation — one that involves everyone coming out a winner.

“That will be the perfect decision — three bronze medals for the ladies,” Comaneci posted on Instagram in response to the Romanian Gymnastics Federation’s pitch to award Chiles, Barbosu and Maneca-Voinea bronze medals.

Chiles’ sister announced on Saturday morning that Jordan had been stripped of her bronze medal after the Court of Arbitration for Sports announced it had voided the inquiry that led to her score being bumped from a 13.666 to 13.766 because it wasn’t filed in the allotted one-minute time period following the event.

The CAS recommended that the International Gymnastics Federation revert back to the original order of finish which had Barbosu third, Maneca-Voinea fourth and Chiles fifth, although the final decision is the IGF’s to make.

The proposal of three bronze medals may ultimately end up being the way the situation shakes out as Chiles and Maneca-Voinea both have legitimate cases of being wronged by poor judging.
