Steph Curry has made a ton of long-distance shots in his basketball career, so there shouldn't be any shot he takes that should surprise him. On Saturday, however, he pulled off one that he didn't expect to make.

In the men's basketball final against France, Curry turned a lot of heads when he drained a heavily contested 3-point shot with less than a minute remaining. NBA stars Evan Fournier and Nicolas Batum both tried to double team Curry to slow him down, but his shot still went in perfectly.

It was not only the difficulty of the shot that made it so great, but also the fact that it sealed the win for Team USA. The Americans were ahead by just six points, 93-87, prior to that triple, and had Curry missed it, the home side would have gotten a chance to make it a one- or two-possession game.

That said, Steph Curry admitted that even he was surprised that he made the shot. Of course he wasn't lacking in confidence when he took the shot, but given the defense on him, he was prepared to miss.

Curry added that he was "impressed" that he was actually able to pull it off and create such a legendary moment.

"Every shot you take, you think it's going in... At the end of the day, all I saw was the rim. I didn’t see who was in front of me… That impressed me. I impressed myself on that one too, for sure," Curry shared.

Curry's shot is definitely one of the best moments of the 2024 Paris Olympics men's basketball tournament. Making it even better, it led to the Golden State Warriors star's first gold medal in his very first Olympic participation.

The 36-year-old sharpshooter ended the competition as Team USA's leading scorer with 14.2 points per game. He finished the showdown with France with 24 points, making all eight of his shots from deep.
