Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson , who was a preseason standout in 2023, picked up right where he left off, showing no signs of the hip injury that ended his rookie season. Thompson-Robinson completed 14 of 18 passes for 134 yards, demonstrating efficiency and poise under pressure.

Thompson-Robinson’s ability to make plays under duress was on full display, particularly when he hurdled a defender on a critical 4th-and-1 to keep the drive alive. Although late in the fourth quarter, a potential touchdown pass to wide receiver Ahmarean Brown was negated by a penalty, Thompson-Robinson quickly regained composure, moving the ball efficiently downfield. This drive brought the Browns to the Packers' 1-yard line, setting up a one-yard touchdown run by rookie running back Aidan Robbins . His performance suggests that he could be a reliable option for the Browns moving forward, solidifying his role as a strong backup quarterback.

Rookie wide receiver Jamari Thrash also made a significant impact, adding depth to a crowded receiver room. Thrash caught three passes for 43 yards, including a 22-yard and a 16-yard reception on a single drive in the second half. His ability to create separation and make plays after the catch provided a glimpse of his potential, reinforcing the hype that surrounded him as a fifth-round pick.

With established receivers like Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, Elijah Moore, and Cedric Tillman already on the roster, Thrash’s performance could force the Browns to consider keeping six wide receivers. His showing against the Packers demonstrated that he is not just a depth piece but a potential playmaker who could contribute significantly to the offense.

As the Browns continue their preseason, these standout performances from Thompson-Robinson and Thrash will be closely monitored. Both players have made a strong case for their roles on the team, bringing optimism to an offense that looks to improve heading into the regular season.
