Giants Won't Make QB Change After Drew Lock Injury

When an injury is sustained to a backup quarterback during training camp or preseason action, most NFL organizations would move quickly to sign an additional camp arm to limit the number of reps the starter would have to take.

The New York Giants are not most teams.

Despite the injury to Drew Lock reportedly sidelining him for the next week of training camp and preseason action, Giants head coach Brian Daboll stated the organization would not look to add another quarterback to their current room.

"We’re not adding another quarterback right now," Daboll said at practice Sunday.

While Lock's injury is not considered serious, his absence could go into the week which would force the Giants hand in a way. New York has just starting quarterback Daniel Jones and backup Tommy DeVito on the roster going into the season without Lock accounted for.

While it would normally behoove a team to bring in an additional arm during training camp, the Giants being patient is a sign that the organization feels the former Seahawk and Bronco could be back on the field relatively soon to this point.

Lock went 4-10 passing with an interception in New York's preseason opener against the Lions. DeVito went 8-15 for 72 yards after him.

There could be more of Tommy Cutlets in the future for the G-Men, at least over the next week.
