The Miami Marlins will hope to avoid being swept at home by the San Diego Padres on Sunday afternoon. Miami has lost the first two games of the series. Both losses were extra-inning games.

San Diego is currently riding a seven-game winning streak. They are sitting at the top wild-card spot in the National League by four games. The Arizona Diamondbacks and Atlanta Braves are right behind them, with the New York Mets in the hunt.

As for pitching matchups, it will be ace right-hander Dylan Cease (11-8, 3.40 ERA) taking the mound for San Diego. This will be Cease's 25th start of the season. He is coming off a disappointing outing last Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates after it got shortened due to a long rain delay. However, he threw the second no-hitter in Padres history two weeks ago against the Washington Nationals.

Cease's counterpart will be Marlins righty Max Meyer (2-2, 5.10 ERA). The 25-year-old is making his seventh start of the season. In his last start on Tuesday, he gave up six runs on eight hits in four innings against the Cincinnati Reds. It will likely be challenging for him to pitch against a Padres lineup that has been hot lately

Here are the lineups for both teams
