Spurs' Victor Wembanyma Headlines Paris Olympic All-Star Team

Despite falling just short of a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, it's hard to call Victor Wembanyama's debut in the Games anything short of a success. He went toe-to-toe with the best American players in the world, won a silver medal, and was one of the best players in the tournament.

With four years for him and France to improve and grow, it's safe to say that he will be competing for a medal again in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

However, he was still honored for his all-time performance, as he joined Dennis Schroder, Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and Nikola Jokic on FIBA's Olympic All-Star team.

All five of those players are in the NBA, and with the exception of Schroder, all of them medaled in Paris.

Curry went nuclear in the last two games of the tournament and scorched France, sinking four straight three-pointers in the finals quarter to put victory out of reach, clinching a fifth-straight gold for Team USA. It was also Curry's first Olympic medal.

There is a case to be made that Kevin Durant should have made the All-Star team over Wembanyama. Durant averaged 13.8 points on 51.9 percent shooting from deep, but Wembanyama posted a more well-rounded 15.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists. He was clearly the best player on France and was one of the best players on the court in the gold medal game.

In the final game, Wembanyama led all scorers with 26 points, and when compared to Durant's 15 points, it's easy to see why the Frenchman was given the nod in his home country.
