Cowboys at Rams: Who's In, Who's Out

The Dallas Cowboys are preparing to open up their preseason schedule on the road today against the Los Angeles Rams. The players who are unlikely to play today is a veritable who’s who of Cowboys.

Quarterback Dak Prescott was held out of practice on Friday and will not play today. Cooper Rush and Trey Lance are in the mix - and in competition - at QB2.

The team website suggests that Lance might play "70 percent'' of the snaps today.

We are unlikely to see Micah Parsons, Tank Lawrence, Trevon Diggs or DaRon Bland on defense. On offense, Prescott, Zack Martin, and Ezekiel Elliott are unlikely to see playing time as well.

No Zeke means lots of competition for carries, with Malik Davis maybe looking to step up today.

Another of the biggest questions for the Cowboys in today’s game is who will step up at the receiver position? Today is the time for guys like Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin and Ryan Flournoy to raise their stock as they jockey for a promiment spot on the 53-man roster.

There's also competition at tight end; could this be a big John Stephens Jr. day?

And on defense? Names to watch include cornerback Caelen Carson, linebackers DeMarvion Overshown and Willie Harvey and maybe most of all, defensive tackle Mazi Smith.
