Angel Reese Makes Hilarious Recruiting Pitch to Gabby Williams After Paris Olympics

Gabby Williams was unfortunate to have lost in the Olympic final to the U.S. in front of her home fans in France despite a strong performance. But maybe it happened for a reason, as Angel Reese reached out to her hoping she wants to make a return to the WNBA.

Williams was the main reason for France having a close game with the U.S., leading the team with 19 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two assists on 7-of-16 shooting from the field. She nearly forced overtime, having made a shot at the buzzer that ended up being ruled as a two-pointer because her foo was on the three-point line as she and the French would fall 67-66.

Williams received international recognition for her efforts in leading France, being named in FIBA's All-Star Five as well as Best Defensive Player of the tournament.

This prompted Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese to publish post on X about Williams after the gold medal game, seemingly making a recruiting pitch to the French player on a potential return to her former team.

"Ok now that the game is over, would you like to be apart of the chicago sky again???" Reese said while tagging Williams' account. "(thought it wouldn’t hurt to try lmaoo)."

Williams was drafted by the Sky in the 2018 WNBA Draft, playing there for three seasons before joining the Seattle Storm in 2022. She last played in the league in 2023.

Williams is currently eligible to return to the WNBA for the second half of the season, with the league having been on pause due to the All-Star break and the Olympics.

What Williams decides to do after the Olympics will be looked at closely. But if she accepts Reese's pitch, it could make things quite interesting for the Sky's chances of being a playoff contender in the Eastern Conference.
