Travis Hunter played his first season for the Colorado Buffaloes in 2023. Hunter played both ways, having 721 receiving yards, five touchdowns, 30 total tackles, two tackles for loss, and three interceptions.

The Buffaloes are now in the Big 12, joining the Utah Utes, Arizona Wildcats, and Arizona State Sun Devils in the conference.

Hunter took home the Paul Hornung after a solid season for Colorado. The Colorado star earned another honor recently after taking the second spot on Bruce Feldman's College Football Freaks List . Hunter fits the "freak" mold very well.

The star two-way player started his career with the Jackson State Tigers. Hunter was the No. 2 overall player and top athlete in the 2022 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings .

After one season with Deion Sanders at Jackson State, Hunter transferred to Colorado. According to FanDuel , Hunter now has +6000 odds to win the Heisman.

It was another big offseason of roster turnover for Colorado. The Buffaloes had over 40 players hit the transfer portal this offseason.

However, Colorado added players from the portal, such as former Pittsburgh Panthers edge rusher Dayon Hayes, former Clemson Tigers offensive lineman Zechariah Owens, former Ohio State Buckeyes running back Dallan Hayden, and former Charlotte 49ers linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green.

Players from last year's team, like RB Dylan Edwards, wide receiver Xavier Weaver, and cornerback Cormani McClain, are no longer with the team. Edwards led the team in rushing (321), and Weaver was Colorado's leading wideout with 908 receiving yards.

If Colorado wants to reach a bowl game, Sanders still has some work to do. Colorado finished last season at 4-8.

The Buffaloes open the year with the North Dakota State Bison on Aug. 29.
