Dan Orlovsky Issues Warning To Cowboys Over CeeDee Lamb Hold-Out

ESPN's Dan Orlovsky shared a grim prognosis for the Cowboys amid their contract dispute with wide receiver CeeDee Lamb on Monday morning's edition of "First Take."
Lamb, who led the NFL in receptions (135) last season, is seeking a contract extension and has not participated in the team's offseason workout programs, including its training camp in Oxnard, California.
Orlovsky cautioned that his absence could have a ripple effect in the regular season.
"When these premiere athletes miss time in training camp, usually there's something attached to either their performance or health that isn't on par with the expectations," Orlovsky said.
Lamb finished 2023 with 135 receptions, 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns, all career-highs.
According to Orlovsky, it will only be more difficult for Lamb to reach those heights this upcoming season the longer the Cowboys sit on their hands in negotiations.
Last week , owner Jerry Jones told reporters he didn't have any urgency to reach an agreement with Lamb on an extension, prompting an "lol." in response from the receiver on social media.
Lamb's 5,145 receiving yards since being drafted 17th overall in the 2020 NFL draft are the fifth-most in the league. ( h/t Stathead )
He's set to earn $17.991 million this season as he plays on his the final year of his rookie contract.
Earlier this offseason, Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson (four years, $140 million) reset the market for the position with an average annual value of $35 million.
On Aug. 3 , Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill restructured his contract and will earn $106.5 million guaranteed over the lifetime of the deal. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, noted, "It's the most guaranteed money added to a contract without adding new years in NFL history."
Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (four years, $120 million) and Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown (three years, $96 million) also received extensions this offseason.
The Cowboys begin the regular season on Sept. 8 at the Browns.
