Nabers Injury Update: Daboll Says Giants Star Is Sore, But 'OK'

New York Giants fans feared the worst on Sunday when rookie receiver Malik Nabers appeared to suffer a foot injury during practice.

After going down, getting looked at by trainers, and ultimately limping off, speculation catastrophized that the season would be over before it could even begin.

Giants fans can breathe a sigh of relief after head coach Brian Daboll delivered an injury update on Monday morning.

“Sore today, we’ll back off him, take it day-to-day,” Daboll said, via SNY . “That’s where we’re at with him.”

Daboll was vague and brief, as he typically is with injuries, but neither his demeanor nor his words expressed significant concern. He is not practicing on Monday.

“I’m not gonna get into too much of the details,” Daboll said. “I think he’s OK, he’s just a little sore today.”

Nabers’ post-practice activities shouldn’t scare the New York faithful either. After practice, Nabers joined Kay Adams on “Up & Adams” for a short interview and was in good spirits. Needless to say, if there was an obvious, significant injury or Nabers was debilitated by pain, the Giants would have intervened.

That’s no guarantee, of course, but things appear to be fine as the team ramps up for its second preseason game against the Houston Texans.

    “I don’t think it’s fractured,” Daboll said.

His status for Saturday’s preseason affair is in question, but given how few snaps he played – and what he has already shown in camp – New York doesn’t need to see much more from the No. 6 pick. Missing this week’s contest isn’t a reason for concern in itself.

The Giants, seemingly, dodged a bullet.
