DeRozan Experiences Wonderful Feeling of Victory

    By Lance Roberson,

Following a three-season tenure with the Chicago Bulls that included one playoff game victory and one appearance in the postseason, DeMar DeRozan experienced a championship game outside of the NBA. The former San Antonio Spurs forward played in the Drew League over the summer.

Chicago performed a sign-and-trade with the Sacramento Kings and the San Antonio Spurs maneuver, ultimately helping the All-Star forward change teams. In addition to DeRozan landing in Sacramento, the Spurs acquired Harrison Barnes. DeRozan's time in Chicago was nothing special from a team standpoint.

However, DeRozan played in two All-Star games, earned one All-NBA second-team honor, and tied for 10th in MVP votes alongside LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

The Bulls finished with a 39-34 record and played in their second consecutive Play-In tournament. However, DeRozan is accustomed to playing in the postseason, which is why the former Spurs forward needed to taste high-pressure games in the offseason.

Conveniently for DeRozan, the Drew League is played in the Kings' All-Star's backyard in Los Angeles, California. DeRozan led the oddly-named Mecca Cheaters to the Drew League Championship Game to experience the feeling of high-stakes basketball. The Mecca Cheaters were down 16 points with five minutes left in regulation before DeRozan led them to a championship victory.

The Kings seek a playoff appearance and a first-round series win with DeRozan as their marquee offseason acquisition.
