ORLANDO — The Paris Olympics have come and gone, which means focus is now shifting towards the new season, both in the NBA with the Orlando Magic and the other 29 teams and in college.

Bleacher Report draft analyst Jonathan Wasserman conducted a recent mock draft where the Magic selected Alabama freshman forward Derrion Reed with the No. 21 overall pick.

"Alabama is loaded with guards and bigs, but Derrion Reid's physical profile and versatility will create obvious pro potential that should trump pedestrian stats and production," Wasserman writes. "His passing and defensive tools are big pluses as well, and he's made some encouraging developments with his mid-range shot and range. However, improving his shooting remains an obvious priority."

But the Magic weren't done. With the No. 25 overall pick that they acquired back in 2021 with the Denver Nuggets, Orlando completes the trade with Duke freshman forward Isaiah Evans.

"The sales pitch revolves around 6'6" wing size and advanced shooting ability. He'll spend most of the time with the Blue Devils spotting up, but he can also create space getting into his pull-up and iso jumper," Wasserman writes. "Evans, who's 175 pounds, could struggle with shot selection and providing rim pressure. But scouts may be willing to look past some efficiency for a forward with his caliber of perimeter-scoring versatility."

It's obviously still very early to look at specific prospects for the Magic, especially considering their lack of a true need. But Orlando should keep an eye on these players just in case they make sense for them when the draft rolls around in June.
