Fox Sports analyst and college football broadcaster Joel Klatt has Texas and Georgia as the teams to beat in the SEC, but he also sees a clear No. 3 contender.

The Longhorns made the playoff last season and return a boatload of players. Meanwhile, Georgia is the clear top program in the country so far this decade with two national titles and then a 13-1 year in 2023. With those two cruising along at the top, who could spoil the party and knock one of these teams out of the SEC title matchup?

    Klatt says:

"The threat is Alabama," he declared, noting that even with Saban gone, the history isn't going anywhere.

"That's because they believe they're the threat," Klatt continued. "They've done it. Say what you will about Kalen DeBoer coming in — it's a new this and new that — Georgia is still the one that has an Alabama problem."

Whew, that's a bold statement by Klatt, but he tried to explain.

"I know Bulldog fans are not going to want to hear that," he said. "But they have had... you can call it a Nick Saban problem if you want. It's a Tide problem. They don't do well with the laundry, if you know what I mean."

He sees Alabama as the one team who won't flinch at a foe like Georgia.

"Bama is never going to feel outmatched," Klatt added. "Their roster is built to play at the highest level, their players have played at the highest level. They just beat Georgia last year, they just played in the playoff, they just had a fourth down in the Rose Bowl to beat the eventual national champion."

Those are experiences most other teams just don't have outside of Alabama, Georgia and Texas.

"They will not back down at any moment, and you can't say that about the other two teams that I considered here, which is Ole Miss and Missouri," said Klatt.

So, the Tigers and Rebels are still on the outside looking in for Klatt, while Alabama is the real third threat to win the SEC behind Georgia and Texas.
