The Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp is filled with rookie standouts. During the Bucs' first preseason game, it was an offensive player that stood out to the Bucs faithful and the coaching staff.

Running back Bucky Irving started the game at tailback for Tampa Bay and in a limited amount of snaps he showed the production he possesses in the backfield. Irving got the Buccaneers on the board with their first touchdown of the preseason.

Irving played the entirety of the 1st quarter which was just a handful of possessions, but still collected 26 yards on six carries.

There is a lot to like from the projected second-string running back, and head coach Todd Bowles had high praise for Irving following the game.

"He had no jitters, he wasn't nervous and hit the holes well. he caught the ball, pass blocked well," said Bowles. "I'll check the tape for everything else, but I thought he had a good first outing."

While Irving didn't play a ton of snaps, it was apparent that when he was out there the focus was on the running game and getting him involved in the play.

The backup running back position is still up in the air with Bucs running back Sean Tucker also having an impressive performance in the preseason opener, but Irving is also a dynamic option on special teams which may help his case.

However, we will need to see a lot more than just six carries before any conclusions can be drawn.
