The Wisconsin Badgers are a team that often appears in the AP's preseason top 25 teams. After a disappointing 2023 campaign, however, that isn't the case heading into the new season.

The 2024 college football AP preseason poll has been released and the Badgers will begin the new season unranked. This is the first time Wisconsin will enter a season unranked since 2016.

Here is the complete top 25 in the preseason poll:

    1. Georgia (46 first-place votes)
    2. Ohio State (15 first-place votes)
    3. Oregon (1 first-place vote)
    4. Texas
    5. Alabama
    6. OIe Miss
    7. Notre Dame
    8. Penn State
    9. Michigan
    10. Florida State
    11. Missouri
    12. Utah
    13. LSU
    14. Clemson
    15. Tennessee
    16. Oklahoma
    17. Oklahoma State
    18. Kansas State
    19. Miami (FL)

Last season, the Badgers started the season ranked No. 19 after an offseason full of hype and high expectations. They quickly dropped out of the rankings after their Week 2 loss to Washington State. The team never made it back into the top 25.

It seems this year the Badgers will have to earn the respect of the AP voters to climb back into the rankings.

The Badgers garnered a total of 15 points from the voting process. There are eight Big Ten teams ahead of the Badgers in the voting. Ohio State (2), Oregon (3), Penn State (8), Michigan (9), USC (23), Iowa (25), Washington, and Nebraska all finished ahead of them. The Huskers received 16 points, putting them ahead of Wisconsin by just a point.
