Following last season, the Crimson Tide knew they had a challenge with replacing their two NFL draft picks at cornerback. Terrion Arnold and Kool-Aid McKinstry were the anchors for Alabama's defense last season and in just one offseason they were both gone.

Throw in the fact that the Crimson Tide's defensive backroom was hit harder than any other position group in the transfer portal and a true deficiency was evident.

Before his retirement, Nick Saban dipped into the portal to add some experience with USC cornerback Domani Jackson, a former five-star recruit.

Following Saban's retirement, a plethora of other defensive backs also entered the portal including freshman All-American safety Caleb Downs.

Seeing the potential catastrophe, former Alabama safety Ha-Ha Clinton Dix attempted to save the day by giving Jackson a call. Clinton Dix revealed Jackson's response to his phone call.

"First player I called exact words, 'I just got here I'm not going anywhere,' and hung up in my face," Clinton Dix said of the phone call with Jackson.

Although Clinton Dix's feelings might've been hurt my Jackson's quick trigger with the end call button, everyone around the program is thankful for Jackson's loyalty.

The former Trojan is locked in as a starter on the outside for Alabama's secondary under first-year defensive coordinator Kane Wommack .

Jackson's 18 games of experience is much needed in a room that features multiple freshmen including former five-star Zabien Brown who is pushing for the starting spot opposite Jackson.

Jackson will pair his veteran presence with mainstay safeties Malachi Moore and Devonta Smith as they hope to lead this young defense to prominence.
