Dave Portnoy Risking Crazy Amount of Money on Massive Caitlin Clark Bet

Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy has been on the Caitlin Clark bandwagon for quite a while, and now he’s putting his money where his mouth is.

Portnoy placed as substantial $100,000 bet on Clark and the Indiana Fever, who currently occupy third place in the Eastern Conference, to win the WNBA championship.

“Caitlin Clark is a top 3 player in the league,” Portnoy tweeted. “Maybe the best. She got rest for the 1st time in a year. Ayliah Boston and her chemistry grows every game. They started 1-8. 10-7 since then and improving. I had to do it.”

At +10,000 odds, the potential payout for Portnoy is $10.1 million should the Fever pull off an improbable run to a WNBA title.

The Fever (11-15) haven’t made the playoffs since 2016 under former head coach Stephanie White when they lost in the first round to the Phoenix Mercury. In its 24-year history, Indiana has made the playoffs 13 times, including three WNBA Finals appearances and one championship (2012).

Portnoy won $1.6 million back in June after betting on the Boston Celtics to knock off the Dallas Mavericks for their 18th NBA Championship, and perhaps his betting big on the Fever is a bit of fortunate foreshadowing.
