Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese was recently asked about her previous comments about French national player Gabby Williams.

Williams was one of the biggest stars of the Olympics, proving to be one of the best women's basketball players in the world. She led her country to a silver medal after falling short to the USA in the finals.

Williams led France with 19 points against America. She had a phenomenal showing, but Team USA escaped Paris with the 67-66 victory.

Right after the game, Reese took to social media to recruit Williams, who was a former first-round draft pick by the Sky back in 2018, back to Chicago.

"Ok, now that the game is over, would you like to be a part of the Chicago Sky again???" Reese said. "Gabby Williams (thought it wouldn't hurt to try)."

Williams, who now plays professional basketball in Turkey, has made it clear in the past that she's not interested in returning to the WNBA for financial reasons. She quickly replied to Reese, turning down the offer, but suggesting they team up with a different franchise.

"orrrrrr we could just play together for a différent organization," she said.

At practice on Tuesday, Reese spoke to reporters about the attempt at recruiting Williams back to Chicago. Reese mentioned it was all 'just a joke.'

"I'm not saying anything," Reese said. "I don't know anything. It's just fun. I've been a fan of Gabby since she was at UConn and I've always tried to take some things from her game. She plays hard and I love that about her. It was tough to see, obviously see her losing, but I love Gabby and it was just a joke. She did play here in Chicago. I watched her when she was here in Chicago for a little while. I'm excited to see where her career goes. Any WNBA team that gets her is lucky for sure."

Reese explained that her pitch to Williams was just a joke, but it's clear that the rookie showed high praise for the women's basketball star.

Williams would be an immediate contributor for the Sky, but she's made it clear that her vision isn't focused on a return to Chicago.
