The Olympic competition between USA's Simone Biles and her toughest competitor, Brazil's Rebeca Andrade, was fierce on the floor and on social media.

Biles may have won the battle for headlines and gold medals (three-to-one), but the 25-year-old Brazilian gymnastics star nearly doubled up her Olympic rival in new Instagram followers added.

According to research conducted by ActionNetwork.com during the Paris 2024 Olympic Summer Games, Andrade gained the most Instagram followers (8.6 million new additions) of any athlete competing.

Biles was second among all athletes with 4.9 million followers added, however she started from a higher floor of 7.5 million followers prior to the Opening Ceremony.
